The Okra Project is a collective that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home-cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People wherever we can reach them. Based on individual donations, The Okra Project pays Black Trans chefs to go into the homes of Black Trans people to cook them a healthy and home-cooked meal at absolutely no cost to our Black TGNC siblings. For those Black Trans folks currently experiencing homeless or whose homes cannot support our chef’s cooking, The Okra Project has partnered with institutions like Osborne Association and other community spaces to deliver foods.

Black Queer & Trans Artists LA—

“This gofundme is set up to support 15 artists most affected by these harsh realities [COVID-19, unemployment, antiBlack state violence, threat of incarceration and homelessness]. These artists are key components in our art and music scenes maintaining culture in a city that has become too expensive for most to afford. Funds will be distributed equally to each artist.

“It is important for these artists to feel safe not only as black artists, but as a black queer and trans artist family.  Free to collaborate and express themselves however they wish without living in fear. This is a crucial time to make a difference in each of their lives.”

“We are a volunteer-run group of queer bodies seeking to redefine the sociopolitical climate for queers in Zimbabwe through events and discussions that celebrate queerness. Due to the mounting effects of COVID-19, we are taking this time as a group to create a mutual aid fund for the queer community here in Zimbabwe.”
